DESCRIPTION:

Biological agents, viruses are used in the preparation of nanowires.The phagemid, genetically engineered in E.coli is incubated with cobalt chloride and then allowed to undergo reaction with NABH4.Reduction occurs in the presence of H2O.Finally CO3O4 is formed.Cryatsllisation and assembly of the M13 capsid with the cobalt oxide results in the formation of nanowires.The amino terminal of the protein capsid of the M13 reacts with cobalt and carboxyl terminal reacts with positive ions. The so formed nanowires are used as anode in the rechargeable lithium ion batteries. The reason for taking Cobalt as the substrate for the production of nano wires is, Cobalt has higher retention and life span. Applications of the nano wires are in ipods, walkmans, portable cdmans etc in their batteries.

TITLE : Screen biocontrol agents against Alternaria.

Client : ITC R&D Center, Hyderabad.

DESCRIPTION:

A total of 16 bacterial strains isolated from tobacco phylloplane were used to obtain antagonistic bacteria for controlling tobacco brown spot caused by Alternaria alternata. Five of the strains ITC TPB 1,2,3,4 and 5 exhibited high antagonistic activity. These isolates were used against Alternaria alternata, pathogen causing brown spot disease under in vitro conditions by dual culture method.In addition, five strains of Trichoderma from culture collection of ITC were tested against brown spot causing Alternaria alternata. ITC TV 3 strain strongly suppressed the tobacco brown spot causing pathogen by dual culture method under in vitro conditions.
