Responsibilities:
• Corporate communications –Develop and implement communications and media strategies, promotional materials such banners, brochures, develop programme video documentaries and manage corporate branding e.g appropriate use of Oxfam logo on publicity materials such as t-shirts , banners, organization vehicle stickers etc.
• Media relations – Managing national and international media relations. Develop press releases, media adverts, supplements, programme documentation, coordinate proactive and reactive media tours and organize press conferences, coordinate media interviews for staff, write position papers and act as organization contact person to the media. Organize official launches and campaigns. Monitor media activities.
• Budget Management: Manage project budget and coordinate recruitment of related consultancies as required
• Publications and photography: Write, design and coordinate production and dissemination of publications e.g. Country office and programme fact sheets, brochures, reports, newsletters, advocacy materials. Take digital/manual photographs and video.
• Website: writing and situation reports, news release and photos for Oxfam webs site.
• Networking: Ability to establish and maintain good relationship with local and international media, civil societies, government agents, community based organizations etc.
• Public Relations: coordinate official visitors’ programs for donors, celebrities and partners. Manage exhibitions, conference and organize media workshops.

• Increased Oxfam GB Kenya programme visibility through media coverage e.g. (May 2005-April 2007) about 200 articles, TV and radio documentaries and news spots published and aired locally and internationally. At average of one mention of Oxfam GB work in the media every month.
• Designed and implemented an e-daily media digest dairy (for media monitoring)
• Initiated and developed Oxfam Kenya programme fact sheet
• Wrote, and designed Oxfam GB Kenya Programme publications e.g. newsletter, brochures, project profiles/briefs, posters, maps and charts
• Developed website stories and photographs for Oxfam website and intranet
• Organised media tours to field projects for local and international media as well as celebrities
• Organised and trained staff and partners in participating in media interviews for staff with local and international media. E.g. staff participated on a KBC radio talk show on Conflict Management won an international award 2005.
• Supported and participated in coordinating notable Oxfam global campaigns such as the “Controlarms and Big Noise Trade Fair” e.g develop publicity materials and media coverage.
• Initiated and developed Oxfam in Kenya telephone hold-on message, daily media digest, monthly e-newsletter, quarterly programme newsletter, publicity materials e.g branded T-shirts and caps, banners, posters, and an information pack.
• Participated in the establishment and management of the Oxfam Kenya programme resource centre

• Produced six programme video documentaries for AMREF Kenya which were widely aired at the national and international media
