M. PHARM DISSRATATION WORK:-
“GUM GHATTI: A NOVEL CARRIER FOR MATRIX TABLET” under the keen guidance of Mr. D. K. Sharma, (Reader & HOD Deptt. of Pharmaceutics), B.R. Nahata College of Pharmacy, Mandsaur. The objective of the study was to develop a matrix tablet for oral controlled release using Gum Ghatti as cost-effective, non-toxic, easily available and suitable carrier for hydrophilic matrix systems. Matrix tablets of Diclofenace Sodium were produced by direct compression method using the different percentage of Gum Ghatti (5-55%). After evaluation of physical characteristics of tablets, the dissolution test was performed at pH 1.2and 6.8 for 12 hrs. The drug release from all Gum Ghatti tablets followed first order kinetics, via swelling, diffusion and erosion mechanism. The results of in vitro drug release were reported to be comparable with marketed sustained release diclofenac sodium. Gum Ghatti matrix tablets F-3 showed no change in physical appearance, drug content or in dissolution pattern after storage at 40oC relative humidity 75% for 3 months based on the results of in-vitro it was concluded that that Gum Ghatii a effective carrier for matrix tablets, provided oral controlled release of Diclofenac sodium.
