the under frames of the AC EMU (Alternate current Electromotive unit) Chennai metro rail coaches and Rail(sleeper) Coaches. The under frames are the main module in the whole assembly. My role over there is as a supervisor. In the fabrications of the under frames mainly involves, the sheet metal, heat treatments, welding, grinding and short blasting.

I have carried out my academic project in the esteemed organization H.A.L. Engine division (ADOUR ASSEMBLY). My project group included two members.

RTS of Adour Engine is the return of final assembled engine to the shop floor for snag rectification after testing due to non achievement of all or sum of the test parameters. RTS results not only in labor hours lost and cost, also delays in achieving the tasks and customer satisfaction.

RTS is the major problem faced by most of the aero engine manufacturers. So, we have taken this problem as challenge and did a project. We have put our endeavor to reduce the number of RTS, by using Reengineering principles, operation management, quality tools like SIX SIGMA and 14 TOYOTA principles. We proposed technical and managerial recommendations for improvement of the system, work culture and process for reducing RTS ratio drastically.
