BSS OPERATION & MAINTENANCE ENGINEER
 Effectively & efficiently maintaining the BTS & Access Radio Network; ensuring the overall network availability meets the pre-set targets as laid out by the management, taking into cognizance the platinum, gold, silver & bronze sites are all placed in order of priorities
 Efficient resolution of all Network Faults (Power outages, Transmission Access Radio & BTS failures) ensuring that the average downtime of 6 hours for MTTR is maintained and often time reduced to an average period of 3 hours.
 Ensuring that a desirable percentage of the CSSR & CRR is achieved at all times; by Liaising with network quality and that all the quality related issues are cleared within the predefined terms
 Daily logging of Network maintenance activities
 Reflecting proper understanding of site acceptance procedure and applies such knowledge adequately during site acceptance and to ensure that all equipments are installed according to the laid-down specifications and standards during ATP. Also ensuring that both minor & major snags are rectified during 3rd hold inspections before final sign-off.
 Monitoring of diesel delivery to sites
 Monitoring of generators and general site services on site
 Acceptance of Generators and transformers on site.
 Ensuring that all the support and maintenance agreements are executed 100% at all times accordingly to the SLA.
 Management of spares, Vehicles & Test Instruments; ensuring all logistical supports are performed accordingly to requirements.
 Pre-installation Site Engineering
 Installation & Maintenance of the BTS and transmission equipment.
 Site configuration in accordance with Installation specifications.
 Site Acceptance tests, status & documentation.
 Red marking and blue tagging of BTS sites prior to Acceptance. (BTS Clean up)
 Testing of feeder cable and Antenna system using the site master (VSWR and DTF measurement).
 E1 Termination to RBS sites.
 Operation and maintenance terminal (OMT Software) application on RBS 2202, 2206 & 2207.
 BTS Site Optimization activities involving BTS Upgrade or Downgrade
 Testing, integration & commissioning of GSM BTS (2202, 2206 & 2207).
 Configuration of MMU i.e. Time slot assignment for cross-connection
 Good knowledge of Network Architecture (Power Systems)
 Management of the maintenance and fuel supply contracts for AC generator sets on sites.
 All to ensure 100% availability of AC/DC power on all cell sites
 Earthing, Surge & Lighting protection System of the BSS Installation according to standard specification.
 Supervising local & technical Contractors on the job; ensuring a high quality of Work is performed at all times.
 Ensure that the overall network availability on All RBS Nodes in the region meets the pre-set targets as laid out by Management through efficient resolution of all network faults.
 Take control of all BSS, Transmission and power as may be assigned
 Resolution all assigned BSS Specific faults within a predefined time.
 Provide effective guidance and prioritization to generator servicing contractors in
 Order to solve network problems within pre-defined KPI.
 Use of test instruments and tools to analyze network performance
 Provision of accurate network report so as to ensure a healthy network.
 Provide actual detailed but concise Clearing details to NMC whenever a fault has been cleared
 Proffer solutions to repetitive BSS network problems affecting network quality and
 availability on all BSS Platform as assigned
 Liaising with the Ericsson BSS High Level Support towards the resolution of prolonged BSS service and quality affecting faults.
 Ensure that all preventive, corrective and configuration job orders are duly implemented
 Work with the Regional Planning and Optimization Department to ensure that all network quality issues are resolved
 Participate in acceptance testing of sites in conjunction with the Implementation Team according the approved Celtel acceptance test procedure ensuring that un-resolved non quality affecting snag items are properly captured.
