the consequences for acting in a wrong manner, respecting safety rules (for instance, looking both ways before crossing a street and never talking to strangers), use of good manners, cleanliness, etc.
Qualifications
• Experienced with children
My mother raised five children (including myself) and taught me valuable lessons about taking care of children, while providing a great example of the values she espoused
Became my mother’s helper in 1996, at the age of twelve, when my little brother was born and also started to baby sit my cousins that year
Became a nanny for my three youngest siblings (two of them twins) many hours a day, almost every day, from 1999 to the present, resulting in me gaining many years of experience with children ages newborn all the way through eleven years old—was responsible for every facet of their care including, but not limited to, feeding, washing, helping with homework, driving them to activities and school, putting them to bed, playing with them and keeping them occupied, getting them ready in the mornings, etc.
Wrote and illustrated a children’s book for my twin sisters (did not get it published)
On one occasion, watched my three youngest siblings for two straight weeks while my mother was out of town
On many occasions, have spent multiple days and nights caring for my siblings when my mother was out of town
Coordinated my twin sisters’ 8th birthday pool party, including purchasing all supplies, calling the parents to get their home addresses, sending out invitations, and supervising the ten girls while they were at our house
Because of my long-term position as nanny, was able to gain experience with helping children with certain hardships (some age-specific)—for example, teething, separation anxiety, interacting with other children, learning how to walk, learning how to swim, learning how to ride a bike, sickness, etc.
After all three of my youngest siblings got their tonsils out the same day, I helped my mother look after them by giving them their medication, making sure they drank enough to stay hydrated, and keeping them comfortable after surgery
For three years frequently babysat two neighbor kids who were friends of my siblings and came over to our house to play on average two-five days a week
Home schooled my brother for K-5 through 3rd grades
Regularly tutored a child at Miracle Hill Children’s Home the first semester of my sophomore year of college, resulting in her making better grades in her Latin and geography classes
• Experienced with housework
My mother frequently worked as a housekeeper for other families when I was young, as a way to bring in extra income, and she taught me through both instruction and example many house cleaning tips
Was responsible for keeping the kitchen clean by loading and unloading the dish washer, folded towels and clothes, cleaned bathrooms, vacuumed, straightened, supervised the children as they helped clean, etc.
• Willing to do light housework, run errands, cook meals for the children (can cook well enough to follow a recipe), etc.
• Have no allergies, physical maladies, or psychological maladies
• Do not take legal drugs on a regular basis and never take illegal drugs
• Willing to get CPR/Infant CPR/First Aid certified
• Great swimmer
Have supervised my siblings and their friends in our in-ground pool for upwards of 5 or 6 days a week, hours a day, for the past few summers
• Do not smoke or drink alcohol ever
• Have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and a good driving record
• Have never been arrested
• Took certain college courses in which I learned helpful information that could easily be applied to the training/supervision/understanding of children:
