EXPOSED TO Aeromonas hydrophila”
Absract :
Immunological and antibacterial activity of catfish (Clarias
batrachus,) mucus was studied after exposed with heat killed strain of Aeromonas
hydrophila.
The protein concentrations in mucus were compared with control fish
exposed to phosphate buffered saline and test fish exposed to heat killed
Aeromonas
hydrophila respectively.The protein concentration of mucus was
determined by Bradford assay. It was found that the protein concentration of
14th day mucus
was higher.The antibacterial effect of mucus was tested by measuring
the diameter of the zone of inhibition caused by mucus on the inoculated
plates.
All the above tests conclude that mucus of 14th day post immunization
has highest activity.
