EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS
Finance and Accounting
• Responsible for all financial duties utilizing QuickBooks.
• Functioned as primary contact for accounts payable, negotiated with vendors and processing payments.
• Managed costs of all hotel functions as well as establishing and maintaining budget goals and guidelines.
• Organized and analyzed all financial reports and preparations for Quarter and Year End reporting and taxes.
Human Resources and Management
• Handled employee relations, managing, recruiting and staffing, training delivery and coordination, operational issues/strategic planning and special projects
• Identifying and resolving current and potential employee problems through analysis of performance appraisals, counseling, and coaching sessions.
• Processed bi-monthly payroll, updated employee records, and handled unemployment claims and workers comp claims.
• Additional responsibilities include: benefit administration, compensation, counseling, safety and training/development.
Sales and Marketing
• Responsible for the sales and marketing budget, forecasts, advertising, marketing and business plans, as well as the supervision of a Group and Sales Assistant.
• Aggressively pursue new accounts and negotiate corporate and group contracts to positively impact hotel budgeted revenues.
• Develop marketing strategy by analyzing historical, current and future hotel/market trends and creating strategies to capture the maximum amount of revenue and meet/exceed sales goals.
• Increased annual revenues from $250,000 to over $1 million, increased ADR from $75 to $185, and increased occupancy from 41% to 82% all within 5 years.
• Created a more user friendly website and researched best key words and visuals for increasing website visits and on-line booking.
Project Management
• Created all project proposals including cost effective returns and long term savings, time schedules, contractor assignments with warranty guarantee and service agreements and before and after visuals of the repair .
• Created and defined all objectives of remodels and incorporation of new systems.
• Managed and created all budgets and adhered to projects financial resources.
• Obtained, coordinated and oversaw all contractors and entities to complete the project.
• Minimized any downtime of utilities, noise or inconvenience to work environment, hotel guests and surrounding neighborhood and community.
Training and Development
• Developed a New Hire Orientation, which included a multiple week training/development of new employees through all facets of hotel processes.
• Ensured all new hires received training from multiple trainers in order of ensure all components of the hotel industry were explained and learned.
• Communicated major company stances on ethics, harassment, and customer service through tutorials, videos and handouts.
• Discussed compensation schedule, sick and vacation time, reviewed 401K and insurance benefits.
Legal, City and Coastal Agencies
• Obtained and collaborated all information needed for city building permits.
• Coordinated research studies, geological findings and legal interpretations needed for seawall repair from State of California Coastal Commission.
• Attended and represented property at local planning board and San Diego City Council meeting.
• Met and discussed property issues with City Council members, City Planners and local planning board Presidents.
On-site Management
• Managed the hotel in the most efficient and profitable manner possible while creating the greatest possible satisfaction and well being of all hotel guests, staff and ownership.
• Exhibited excellent problem solving skills and costumer solution and investigation initiatives regularly on a 24-hour basis.
• Responsible for all daily operational functions of property.
