PROJECT ACADEMIC
“Feasibility Study of colour removal by Adsorption on Rice husk Carbon.”
In an effort to develop a cost-effective treatment technology for colour bearing effluents, the efficiency of Rice husk Carbon as an adsorbent for the removal of colour has been studied. The experiments were carried out for both batch and column studies. Batch studies were carried out to study the effect of contact time, pH, dosage of the adsorbent and initial concentration of the adsorbate in the removal process. From the column studies the breakthrough curves have been developed.
Frendlich’s formula was applied to the data obtained in the batch experiments. These data do not follow the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The colour removal efficiency of the Rice husk Carbon was about 93 %.
