RESEARCH ACTIVITY
2003-2004:
Project Title: Role of cdc-25.2 in postembryonic cell cycle regulation in Caenorhabditis elegans
Project Supervisor: Dr. Neville Ashcroft
Genome Damage and Stability Centre
University of Sussex, UK.
Project Highlight: Characterization of cdc-25.2 during development. The work looked at the post embryonic growth characteristics of GG52 emb-29(g52) mutants particularly the postembryonic development of vulva, gonad, germcells, ventral nerve cord and the postembryonic cell lineages by using different reporter transgenes.
Remark: cdc-25.2 is essential for cell divisions in the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans.
2001-2003:
Project Title: Faunistic survey and seasonal periodicity within the Zooplanktonic community in river Ganges.
Project Supervisor: Prof. Subhro Kumar Mukhopadhyay
Moulana Azad College,
Kolkata, India.
Project Highlight: The research work was carried out on the river Ganges in India. My study was an endear or to record server generic and species diversities as well as their variation along with the changes in certain physico-chemical factors in the surface water. Total investigation was done to identify various genera and species of zooplankton in the water body near Gangetic plain.
Remark: Zooplanktonic community in freshwater ecosystem is sensitive to temperature, dissolved oxygen and pH.
1999-2001:
Project Title: Developmental study on chick embryo.
Project Supervisor: Prof. Chittoranjan Sahu
University of Kalyani.
India.
Project Highlight: Organ formation during embryonic development at different stages. The work was based on microscopic observation of different organ formation like, kidney, lung, heart, liver at different stages.
Remark: From embryo to adult, complete development takes 21 days.
1998-1999:
Project Title: Seasonal variation in the fly ash deposition in around a thermal power station in India.
Project Supervisor: Prof. Subhro Kumar Mukhopadhyay
Project Highlight: The work was based on collection of fly ashes with air pollutant, measurement of dust density, microscopic observation.
Remark: Common people are suffering from dust allergy, lung disorder and episcleritis of eyes due to the particulate air pollutant around that thermal power station.
