Project Summary

“Studies on Swietenia mahogany (Meliaceae) - Tissue culture, Inter simple sequence repeat (ISSR) and phytochemical analysis”
In the Present study it is proposed to examine this tree species for tissue culture response- Callus Induction from root & leaves, Shoot elongation from nodes & seed germination. The genomic DNA was isolated by CTAB method & it was subjected to PCR to know the Inter Simple Sequence Repeats (ISSR) using five different primers (UBC 879, UBC 825, UBC 828, UBC 859, and UBC 860). Analysis of phyto-constiuents was done from leaf powder by using TLC. Antimicrobial activity of different constituents was checked against S. typhi & Cryptococus by Bioautography technique.
