Key Achievements
Leveraged responsive customer service to establish high end product sales leadership for a company with no prior Pittsburgh presence. Founded shop-at-home service in Pittsburgh area for 3 Day Blinds, an innovative custom window treatments company providing 72 hour turnaround of individualized customer orders. Consistently and accurately matched product presentations with customer financial resources to build customer satisfaction and level of spend. Quickly established one of the company’s highest percentages of sales of top line products nationwide.
Built highly competitive market position through superior matching of product to local buyer demands. Redirected Hancock Fabrics store previously selling only moderately priced fabric toward materials far more consistent with demand of local population. Introduced high end bridal fabrics, cutting edge design trend materials, and ethnic patterns to serve customer groups not served anywhere else in the market. Increased store sales 20%.
Restructured poorly used product demonstration program into significant sales and promotional tool. Hancock Fabrics had established a model garment program to show what could be made and sell the idea of using the company’s products. Sales had been hampered by previous store management’s decision to use low demand, inexpensive fabrics for showpiece garments. Immediately replaced poor materials with the best the company had to offer to add appeal to the look of the finished product. Enabled store to consistently sell out highest margin fabrics.
Created strong merchandising corporate tie in partnership with Pittsburgh Pirates for 3 Day Blinds. Originated idea for and negotiated placement of company’s Pittsburgh Pirates blinds in all the ticket windows at PNC Park, ensuring exposure to thousands of people arriving for the 2006 Major League Baseball All Star Game.
