Scope: Development of Production tests for a PPMC (Processor PCI Mezzanine Card). The main goal was to test all the on board devices before loading the OS. The devices chiefly tested were Serial Ports, SDRAM, Flash, PCI Bridge controller, external Cache, IIC bus , Serial EEPROM. These tests are used in Board Production Unit to ensure the correct functionality of PPMCs.
Platforms:
Software: VxWorks
Hardware: PPMC card with MPC750 – 500MHz, 1GB SDRAM,1MB Level2 cache, CPC700 memory controller and PCI Bridge,32kbit IIC Serial EEPROM, 512kb boot flash ,4MB strata flash and 2 16550-compatible UARTs.
Tools: TornadoII IDE
Project 8:
Name : CPCI autoconfiguration and Hotswap implementation
Duration: Aug 2001 – Oct 2001
Role: Design, Coding ‘C’, Test plan preparation and testing.
Scope: This was for a Single board Embedded Computer with MPC750 and PCI32/64 bus. This card as a master on a CPCI chassis had to detect all the slave cards and allocate space for them. This is autoconfiguration and with the help of Hotswap, protocol the master could keep track of new cards being hotplugged and old cards removed.
Platform:
Software: VxWorks
Hardware: MPC750 based card with CPC710 PCI32/64 bridge controller and Hotswap controller.
Tools: TornadoII IDE
Project 7:
Name : Shared Memory N/W driver for a PPMC card without Ethernet
Duration : Jun 2001 – July 2001
Role: configuration and test plan preparation and testing
Scope: Configure the Shared Memory Driver provided by Windriver with VxWorks for a PPMC card. The PPMC card is basically plugged on a PCI32 bus of a host Computer with Ethernet. On powerup , first the host loads vxworks through its
ethernet. Then the target PPMC will boot VxWorks through shared memory configured in the host.
Platform :
Software: VxWorks
Hardware: MPC750 based card.
Tools : TornadoII IDE
Project 6:
Name: Porting Board Support Package for a single board computer and a PMC card
Duration : Feb 2001 – May 2001
Role: system redesign , coding in PowerPC assembly and ‘C’ language , test plan preparation and testing.
Scope: Porting of BSP from one MPC750 based board to another MPC750 board with different peripherals. This involved porting and development of drivers, initialization of on board devices and loading the OS. The work also included development of utilities for programming flash.

Platforms:
Software: BSP
Hardware: MPC750 based cards
Tools: Windriver’s BSP Validation Test Suite
Project 4:
Name: Pulse Input/Output for automotive application
Duration : Jul 2000 – Nov 2000
Role: system design, coding in ‘C’ language, test plan preparation and testing.
Scope : PIO module measures the input pulse duration and generates pulse waveform as requested by different applications. The hardware blocks controlled by PIO module to facilitate this functionality are, 16 bit Free Running Timer, Input Capture Unit, Output Compare Unit and External Input Capture Unit (ICU simulation using External interrupts – excluding NMI).
PIO provides service functions for fast disabling and slow enabling of hardware units. During under voltage condition, fast disable function is used to disable all hardware units and upon recovery, slow enable function enables the necessary hardware units.
Hardware abstraction has been done with a three-layer architecture (Common layer, Logical layer and Physical layer). Common layer contains API and code, which is common to all platforms. Logical layer contains all common (for all platforms) and logical device dependent code. This layer contains the code needed for all platforms but for specific hardware devices. Physical layer contains platform dependent code.
