Job History: United States Navy / Officer and Enlisted 1980 to present
Key Leadership Jobs / Positions:
Chief Staff Officer: Commander Sealift Logistics Command, Atlantic 2003 - Present
Responsible for the leadership and management of an operational squadron (staff) consisting of 300 military and civilian personnel, providing combat logistics support to the Atlantic Fleet Area of Responsibility. Led the staff in the preparation of and support for the execution of 23 major deployments to 5th and 6th Fleet in support of Operations ENDURING and IRAQI FREEDOM.
Resource Control Officer: Commander, US Pacific Fleet 2001 - 2003
- Responsible to the Commander, US Pacific Fleet for the proper formulation and execution of the programmed budget for all subordinate commands and staffs within the Pacific Fleet, a budget in excess of $10 Billion. Position held during and post 9/11 adding the responsibility to validate critical cost of war requirements. As a result PACFLT received an augment of $2.3 Billion by Congress in support of global war on terrorism operational requirements.
- Responsible for the execution and guidance of the funding provided for the recovery effort in the Ehime Maru fishing vessel. A major salvage and recovery effort of a Japanese fishing vessel and the lost personnel onboard.
- Supervised 40 military and civilian personnel in the execution of their duties.
Assistant Inspector General: United States Joint Forces Command 1998 - 2001
- Responsible to the Commander in Chief U.S. Joint Forces Command for monitoring, evaluating, assessing and inspecting operational and other areas essential to mission performance, and for evaluating the ability of all echelons of the command to accomplish the assigned mission.
- Served as Inspection Team Leader on numerous occasions in and out of CONUS. As a Team Leader filled the critical role in orchestrating all team evolutions, exercises and logistics and prepared and presented the out brief and required reports of findings to the Commanders of each activity inspected.
Executive Officer: Shore Intermediate Maintenance Activity 1995 - 1998
Responsible for the leadership and management of 2000 military and 30 civilian personnel providing intermediate level repair and maintenance for the surface and submarine force of the U.S. Atlantic Fleet. Oversight of a $2 million operating budget and a $26 million repair budget in support of mission execution for the Navy's largest intermediate maintenance activity.
- Nominated for and selected as the YWCA Military Women of Distinction in 1998.
- Nominated for and selected as the Military Volunteer of the Year for efforts led in
command teams rebuilding a battered women's shelter in Norfolk.
- Nominated for the Joy Hancock award for leadership.
Prior to 1995: Various entry and mid-level management / leadership and staff jobs to include Leadership instructor for mid-level managers, Covey Seven-Habits facilitator, Head of Base Security, shipboard communications, deck and engineering assignments, all of which provided leadership, financial and project management challenges and experiences.
